Dear Angler,

Welcome to Le Morne Anglers' Club, home to the South Indian Ocean Billfish Competition.

As we have just left the 2008 edition in our wake, we are pleased to announce the dates when this international event will take place in 2009. For your respective Big Game Fishing calendars, the competition will be held at Le Morne Anglers Club in Black River, Mauritius from 8th to 14th February 2009.

Ten teams ( 9 visiting and 1 local) took part in the 2008 competition. The teams reported 30 strikes.All billfish were released and the heaviest catch brought to the weighing station was a yellow fin tuna of 118 lb. The competition remained open until the very end, creating exciting vibes to one and all.

Team Joyful with Captain Mr Ali Boyd claimed victory having scored 12135 points.

Maui Jim, specialised manufacturers of sunglasses of world repute was, with our national airline, Air Mauritius,one of the main sponsors of the 2008 event and we had the pleasure to welcome Mr Rafi M. Shaik who especially flew in from Maui Jim's regional office in Dubai, for the duration of the competition.
